The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome address. The Principal addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance and benefits of the Youth Red Cross for students. Mr. Inanalap Periyar, Zonal Coordinator, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, highlighted the need for YRC and outlined the various programmes already conducted. He discussed the student selection process, funding sources, and the benefits of YRC activities. He also emphasized effective ways to actively run the YRC in the college and elaborated on the important role of the Programme Officer. He highlights that each YRC unit will have a minimum of 70 selected students. Camps will be arranged for the public, and 5–10 programmes will be conducted annually. All activities should be documented to gain appreciation from various sources. District Coordinator Mr. Siva Selva Ganesh spoke about the origin and founder of the Red Cross, the importance of observing Red Cross Inauguration Day in all colleges, and the appointment of one Programme Officer for each unit. He explained the role of the Programme Officer, emphasized celebrating all important days listed in the YRC schedule, and informed about the availability of trainers. The Secretary, Mr.S.Ravichandran, explained how to conduct programmes in the college, outlined the various services offered by the Red Cross, and highlighted that YRC is spread worldwide. The meeting ended with mutual agreement to uphold the values of humanitarian service and to work actively for the betterment of society through planned activities for the academic year.
